“I did something wrong.” So, said Chris Matthews one time Cognoscenti of The Known World and now well... just a shell of his former self. He said this to Joy Reid who has her own show in the very same time slot that Chris used to have his, on MSNBC. A show Chris famously left a year and a half ago because... Well in his words. “I complemented a woman.” which doesn’t sound so bad does it? Why can’t he have his show back?
But Chris went on to say he takes “ownership” of what he did. And that sounds good, almost noble and maybe even tough, no resolute.
Then there’s John Hinckley Jr who if you remember shot President Reagan because he wanted a date with actress Jodi Foster. Well, John’s been out of the Psych Ward for quite some time and now he’s singer songwriter with his own tunes like ‘Majesty of Love’ and ‘Everything is Gonna to Be All Right.’ You can listen to him sing his songs on Youtube. We think he sounds a little like Bob Dylan. If Bob Dylan were on Valium, Lithium and Risperdal. He also does a rendition of Elvis’s ‘I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You’. And yeah, we wondered if that’s for Jodi. Maybe John Dylan Hinckley’s next song should be. ‘I Did Something Wrong and I Take Ownership of It.’
Then there’s Dr. Faucci who while telling everyone to wear a mask no, telling everyone to wear two masks, was at the same time admitting in private emails, that the masks don’t work. It seems that the Kung Flu virus is so small it can just weave its way right through the mask or masks. So, the masks were just a waste of time. We don’t think a song lyric is going to cover this. Well maybe a country song lyric like. ‘I’ve Done Ya'll Wrong but if Jesus Can Forgive Me, Why Can’t You.’ Or ‘I’m Just a Bug on the Windshield of Your Life.’
Now we’re a little sad to say that we’ve been wrong as well. Many times, in various articles we’ve stated that the last non-orchestrated moment on TV was when Jack Ruby shot Lee Harvey Oswald. We based that on how surprised and shocked one of the Detectives looked as Jack Ruby fired the fatal shot. But in retrospect, if you wanted to whack Lee Harvey Oswald, you’d want to do it so no one would wonder who the shooter was. And, doing it in front of the TV cameras in a Police Station got that job done. They just didn’t tell that Detective. They needed him to be shocked and surprised.
So, we did something wrong too. And we take ownership of it. But we won’t do it again. Let’s hope others can say and do the same thing.
